Basic Powers (Alpha, Beta and Omega)
Shifting: A lycanthrope, also called a shapeshifter, has the ability to take shape of a particular animal. That being said, most lycanthropes hold only two forms; human and animal. However, some Alpha lycanthropes have the ability to take form of a half-man half-beast. Changing between human and lycan form is very, very taxing to most shifters. Beta and anything lower in pard structure are required to feed almost instantly after changing into their animal form, while Alphas are less likely to be required to. Each are still left with being physically taxed after the shifting. You can learn control over the shift unless it is the full moon. It takes a lot of energy to shapeshift early. Body temperature spikes before the transformation occurs. Some lycanthropes who spend too much time in animal form are at risk of not being able to retake human shape, that being said there are some shifters who when returning to human shape carry characteristics of their animals. That does not mean that they are graced forever with a tail or ears, but can have a golden hue to their eyes, spots along their skin, razor like canine teeth and more easily influenced changes.
Increased Speed: All lycanthropes are extremely fast and can run faster than the human eye can see. They can equal or even outrun vampires in their speed, and Stamina.
Increased Strength: Lycanthropes' strength appears to depend somewhat on their actual size and somewhat on their level of supernatural power. Their strength is on par with vampires and they are fully able to fight off and even overpower them. Their strength is lesser in their human form, though they are still far stronger than humans.
Increased Healing: Lycanthropes can recover from almost any wound other than that caused by silver weapons. They are able to regenerate lost limbs, and even survive having their throats torn out. Furthermore they are no longer able to be affected by diseases or illnesses. Healing can also occur via a shift from human to beast or in reverse, however the after effects of this forced healing are detrimental especially to the young leaving them in a coma like sleep for at least eight full hours. Be prepared to hurt when seriously injured, because anesthesia doesn't work well on you. Your body metabolizes it too quickly.A vampire wound is a lot like silver, it can kill and most heal from those wounds as if they were human. Wounds made by the teeth or claws of another lycanthrope also heal slower, but not as slow as silver or vampire. Wounds made by silver heal slower and silver can kill you.
Increased Senses: Lycanthropes have extremely acute senses, even in human form. Most can "smell" emotions or lies. Sometimes humans being anxious changes the smell of a person and perhaps that is what the lycanthropes smell. Some can hear a person's heart beat or the blood moving in the body, even in human form. This ability can be overwhelming for early shifters, and it becomes stronger when they shift.
Extended Life: As the body's ability to heal is increased, this also extends the life span of a lycanthrope.
Control over Transformation: They are ruled by the moon in their shift, though any lycan in a high stress situation or overly excited state may shift because of not having control over their beast or are trying to protect themselves and others. Control of the beast in stressful situations is something that becomes easier the longer someone has been infected. The more powerful you are, the more you will be able to control the shift. The closer to the full moon it is, the harder it will be to control your "beast." Usually you will stay in animal form for eight to ten hours, then collapse and change back to human form. Alphas may not fall into unconsciousness after reverting to back to human form unlike Omegas and Betas.
Specific Powers
Group Leaders Only
Shield the Call: Some group leaders have the ability to shield themselves and the others in their group from the call of master vampires. The Alpha using this ability must answer the call in place of those he has protected.
Summon: The ability to mentally call out to their pack member in times of need.
Bleed for the Pack: It allows the Alpha wolf to share their blood with the pack before a great battle or strenuous activity to grant them a greater portion of the Alpha’s strength and abilities.
Alphas
Commune with the Beast: While shifted, the human side maintains some control, there is not the total loss of self that many experience. A certain degree of “danger-sense” seems to arise as the beast warns of dangers, suggests things that might have been missed by the everyday thinking mind.
Call other’s Beast: It is the ability of an Alpha of a species to call upon the beasts of others of their species. They may draw the beast to the surface, often forcing the change in that individual if they are of a lesser power or in an injured state.
Quiet the Beast: It allows the alpha to soothe the beast of another in times of stress, force them back into their human form, or force that beast down into a coma until the full moon is able to counteract this effect.
Command Loyalty: This power allows those Alphas to force submission from those of lesser power levels, causing them severe pain if they resist any directive given to them.
Partial Shift: The ability to control the shift to the degree that only certain physical attributes are effected at will. Ex. Claws, facial features, fangs, etc.
Call the Flesh/Heal: This is the ability that a rare few Lycans have that allows them to focus their powers and energy upon another to heal severe wounds or the like. This is -not- a quick process, and it is very rare and very draining when used properly.
Alpha & Beta Powers
Fast Shift Human or Beast: Some have the ability to shift almost immediately into their human form. Taking seconds rather than minutes to transform.. The pain is innumerably greater, but it is quickly over. Those that have the ability to fast shift only rarely are able to partially shift.
Command Normal Beasts: Some gain some degree of control over other mundane versions of their species.
Resist the Call: Lycanthropes can be "called" and commanded by a vampire with the ability to call their species of animal. Sufficiently powerful lycanthropes can resist a vampire's call.
No Shift Coma: All Lycans experience a severe drain in energy after their shift. In lesser lycans this usually lasts around twelve hours thus the reference to it as a "shift coma". This ability allows the lycan the strength and energy to stay up and keep going after recovering from a shift.
Alpha, Beta and Omega Powers
Commune with the Ancestors: For the wolves, this is known as the Munin, yet all species are known to have their mediums, though not every pack will have one.
Resist Rolling: The lycanthrope can meet the eyes of a vampire without being rolled unless the vampire is powerful. The lycan can only be rolled by a lesser vampire if he allows it to happen.
Partial Immunity to Silver: Sometimes a lycan will luck out and have the ability to take less damage from silver. This is not to say that it will not hurt them, but it will take larger amounts of it to cause harm or permanent damage from it.
Sense Others: This is the ability for a lycanthrope to be able to sense that other preturnaturals are present in a nearby area and not visible. The strength of this is dependant on the power level of a lycanthrope. It is also stronger the closer the proximity to be able to correctly identify the preturnatural, but the stronger the lycanthrope the less distance needed and the more accurately they can sense what it is.
*Note: Like the vampires, most of the mythology is taken from Anita Blake (Laurell K. Hamilton) please feel free to bring other ideas and stories to the table!
